Is forex currency trading similar to trading Derivatives?

Can a Good Foreign Exchange Currency trader also trade derivatives? I am pretty good at trading currencies but I am getting very good offer in a Bank for trading Derivatives … I dont know can I do that.. How is it>?!

I need help in getting 2 strenghts and weakeness of the next economic indicators:

-US trade deficit (trade balance)
-Price of Light Sweet Crude Oil per Barrel
-Trade Weighted Exchange Index Major Currencies
-Net Exports of Goods and services
-Consumer Price Index

Good info sources for GBP/JPY?

I trade the GBP/JPY, and have fantastic technical indicators already set up. However, I still need some good sources that might point out "the mood" surrounding this pair on any given trading night. I already use Forex Factory, and sometimes go to Bloomberg.com, but I’ve found that Bloomberg is not a great source of info for either of these two currencies.

Does anyone know where I can get good info on the Pound and/or Yen? I only speak English and Spanish, so sites in Japanese won’t do me much good.

I understand that you buy currency in "lots" and depending if they go up or down in value you make in profit or loss.

I just don’t understand why the currencies are paired like "EUR/GBP".

Can someone help me understand the actual process taking place when people trade currency?

I am completely new to the world of trading stocks or currency, but I want to get started. I see ads for all these different websites (ameritrade, etrade, etc.), and I was wondering, which (if any) would be the best for a beginner? I’m not looking to get rich quick, but I would like to start investing my money for the long term.

Also, which if any of these sites offers a way to trade currencies? Ideally, I would become a member of the site with the best combination of both of these (trading stocks and currency).

If economic stats and indicators of many countries are available to anyone (or are they?), why isn’t it commonplace for people to be trading up on different currencies and getting rich? Is it transaction costs alone? What are some other factors that make it risky?

1) How difficult is currency trading ?
2) Can you really make money trading ?
3) How many currencies does one suggest I trade as a beginner
4) As a beginner is swing trading the way to go
5) Does taking a currency course make a difference ?
