I mean yes he needs to incorporate more defense to his coaching arsenal and needs to play more than an 8 man rotation, but he is a great coach regardless and his record/success speak for themselves. He has seen 2 Conference Finals, made a 20+ win team in the Suns and Knicks into 2 high octane offensive juggernauts, and made the Suns play the most exciting brand of basketball for a couple of seasons.
He made a young Knicks team play hard rather than give up something the team under Isiah did a lot they lacked passion and now the franchise has something to look forward to in a season they thankfully overachieved.
Look at it this way last year w. all the trades Kerr made to worsen the Suns for the future. With the talent the Suns possessed under the leadership of D’Antoni they managed to win 55 wins, which with all the struggling due to trades and roster changes was only 2 games beneath the Lakers for the Pacific division crown.
As, soon as Mike D left so did his system and that made their franchise player Nash disgruntled – which made the team worsen and miss the playoffs winning 46 games.
That is a 9 game digression in a years period. While, in NY he took a team where Walsh made drastic trades that would benefit the team as opposed to hurt them, like Kerr’s trades in the long run and the result under Mike D’s system and his leadership the Knicks won 32 games, which was a 9 game improvement from the 23 wins won by the franchise a year ago.
That is the ultimate +/- indicator and just imagine the Knicks because they are finally under the cap and headed under the right direction if they can reel in Chris Bosh and Michael Redd or any All-star tandem. Then Mike D can do a lot of damage w. that for David Lee, Wilson Chandler, Chris Duhon, and Danilo Gallinari will be complimented by a talented vet in Al Harrington for a full year next year and 2 possible All-stars in 2010. That can rival the talent Mike D had in PHX.
Trading indicators are best used along with money management and good risk control, using trading indicators alone will not enable you to be a successful trader, even if you learn everything about futures trading indicators the market is just too random and unless risk is controlled, over time your account will slowly get wiped out, regardless how good a “trader” you think you are.

He’s should definitely receive more credit than he’s getting. he’s improved the Knicks and the Knicks might be a force in the league under Mike in 2 years time. HE is the best offensive coach in the league. The Suns thrived under his system. I wish he would go back to the Suns. He led the Suns to at least 54 wins since he came to Phoenix and 2 conference finals.
He is underrated as a coach and he was also one of the reasons Team USA has a gold medal.
Absolutely! I think he did the best he could with the Knicks this season and they did win a couple of more games and were in the playoff hunt. I think next season they are going to improve and I really think the Knicks will do better. Although the Knicks need major help on their defense, having a good offense is just as important.
You have to give credit to D’ Antoni. He instilled stability in the Knicks squad. Actually, they had a fighting chance to be in the Playoffs until the losses piled up in the latter part of the season.
What lies ahead for the Knicks is that Lee and Robinson would be free agents. If 2010 is on their mind(I think it IS on their mind), then most likely, only one would be signed. Now, only one of them would be signed.
Mike D’Antoni has simply done an amazing job. Now, the Knicks have the hunger to go for a playoff spot next season.

Yeah I think he certainly deserves more than he’s getting. The Knicks kind of fell off the radar of NBA fans after their playoff hopes were dashed. I think people’s attention went to the postseason teams, understandably, and forgot that the Knicks did improve quite a bit from last year.
I really give credit to three areas. First coach Mike D’Antoni, he managed to get the most out of the team even through the Marbury debacle, he got Quentin Richardson to start playing smarter and he has made Chris Duhon blossom as a point guard.
2nd is Donnie Walsh. Everyone knows what this man did for the Pacers, he is great at finding talent and bringing it to the team. If were not for him their would be noone for D’Antoni to coach so he deserves as much credit.
3rd is the players. Pretty much all of them stepped up their game or improved in some way this year. Duhon, Harrington, and especially Wilson Chandler had good years and still will get better.
The Knicks have a bright future.
Agree Knicks improve so much from last year,and he’s smart to get some good player such as Duhon,draft Gallo and get rid of some fat contract players
